“You probably deserved it”

I must speak about WHO we, as Democrats, are, who the GOP is, and why we’re going to win the midterms. We have human decency. They do not. We are a caring and compassionate people. The GOP is cold and hard. We love our fellow Americans, and strive to improve all people’s lives. The GOP strives to make them worse.

We have seen grassroots protests take hold for the last couple of months. We have seen heroes like Senator Cory Booker. We have seen the country shift toward the Democratic party, as evidenced by what happened in Wisconsin. We have seen Republicans LAUGH at the plights of good Americans.

Here is one such example. Senator Jim Banks of Indiana, a Trump sycophant, was on his way to a nearby elevator when he encountered protestors in the Capitol building. One was a former HHS employee who’d been illegally fired. This person, Mack Schroeder, videoed this encounter with Banks.

Mack told an irritated and impatient Senator Banks what had happened to him, and asked what Banks planned to do about all the illegal firings. Banks’ response? “You probably deserved it.” This is true. This is reality — the GOP’s reality. “You probably deserved it.”

Speechless? It gets worse. “I deserved it,” Mack asked incredulously. And as the elevator doors closed, Banks replied, “You seem like a clown.” This is what the GOP thinks of you, America. Think about what a cold SOB one would have to be to say something like that. Think about the value system of such a man.

Most members of the GOP are just like Banks. They may not express their contempt for Americans quite so heinously, but rest assured, they certainly feel the same way. If they didn’t, they’d be DOING something. When an injustice occurs, people who care try to stop said injustice. The GOP doesn’t. They revel in it.

Of course, Banks is now a laughing stock on social media. What did he expect? Our country should NOT be represented by cold and hard shapeshifters, who, with the facial expressions of the perpetually dismissive, eat the pain of their voters — and swallow that pain down with smiles of self-satisfaction. THIS is why we will win: We will EXPOSE this lack of human empathy, not just in Banks but in ALL OF THEM.
