Trump-Russia election collusion figure Peter Smith worked with Kellyanne Conway’s husband
Now that recently deceased Republican operative Peter W. Smith has been identified as a key figure in the Trump-Russia election collusion scandal, pieces of the story are now developing by the hour. Earlier this evening it was reported that Smith had listed Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway as part of his collusion plan. Now we can confirm that Smith worked with Kellyanne Conway’s husband.
The Peter Smith saga kicked off with a pair of Wall Street Journal articles which first documented that he claimed to have been working with Trump adviser Michael Flynn (link), and then documented that Smith had listed himself as being connected with Kellyanne Conway (link). Conway tells the WSJ that she never worked with Smith. But we’ve found evidence that they only have one degree of separation.
Palmer Report has found a Newsweek article from all the way back in 1999 which reveals that Peter Smith and George Conway worked together on the Paula Jones matter (link). George Conway was long reported to have been on the verge of taking a key Department of Justice job within the Donald Trump administration, which he finally begged off from last month (link). So what does this establish?
The upshot is that Peter Smith, who is rapidly developing as the key figure in the Trump-Russia election collusion scandal, has at least an eighteen year history with George Conway, who is married to top Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, and who nearly took a job in the Trump administration himself. Smith also listed Kellyanne Conway as having been a component in his Trump-Russia collusion document. Smith also dropped dead a few days after speaking with the Wall Street Journal, and no one involved knows how or why he died. This story is still exploding, and the night is still young.
