Senator Thad Cochran to Donald Trump: “I’m not hospitalized”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. Donald Trump keeps insisting that there’s a Republican Senator in the hospital. He’s said it over and over again this week. He’s not referring to Senator John McCain, who is undergoing brain cancer treatment. He’s actually referring to Republican Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi. One problem: Cochran is not in the hospital. We know this, because Cochran keeps trying to set the record straight that he’s not in the hospital.

Early this morning, Trump tweeted “With one Yes vote in hospital & very positive signs from Alaska and two others (McCain is out), we have the HCare Vote, but not for Friday!” In his speeches and public appearances this week, he’s made several more references to the Republican Senator in the hospital. From his own tweet, everyone could tell that he wasn’t referring to McCain, who voted “no” on Trump’s health care plan. So whom was he talking about?

That’s when Senator Thad Cochran tweeted “Thanks for the well-wishes. I’m not hospitalized.” He is on leave from the Senate while he recovers from a medical issue, but he could have voted on the Trump health care plan if there had been a vote. It’s unclear if Trump is flat out lying about Cochran’s status as a phony excuse for why his health care bill failed and had to be pulled, or if Trump honestly believes Cochran is in the hospital when he isn’t.

We’re now facing the very real possibility that Donald Trump is so delusional, he’s hallucinating that a Senator from his own party is in the hospital when he isn’t. Best wishes to Thad Cochran on his recovery. It sounds like Trump is the one who belongs in a hospital.
