For the past two weeks Palmer Report has been documenting the rapid decline in Donald Trump’s Twitter skills – and English language skills – which began the day after he fired Steve Bannon. While we continue to try to unravel that mystery, Trump’s Twitter presence has continued to unravel all on its own. Now he’s gone and done something so embarrassing that we’d struggle to describe it as anything other than senile behavior.

It all started when Trump used the word “heel” four times in a row when he meant “heal,” the day after Bannon’s departure. Was it some kind of code? Did parting with Bannon break him psychologically? Had Bannon been his semi-human autocorrect? In any case, Trump made it even worse when he used “heel” instead of “heal” for a fifth time on Friday morning. That sparked quite a bit of debate on Twitter about Trump’s literacy problems, and his unwillingness to use the vast resources of the White House to work around the problem. Somehow, Trump ended up unwittingly participating in that discussion.

After a Twitter user named @sheba418 replied to a Trump defender by tweeting “please, after several typo’s, he’s just not Presidential material,” (link), Donald Trump proceeded to “Like” that tweet. Here’s a screen capture of Trump’s “Likes” page as it now stands, because his handlers will delete it if this article happens to indirectly alert them to it:

As you can see above, this is only the fourteenth tweet that Donald Trump has ever “Liked” during his many years as an active Twitter user. The Like button is a feature that he very rarely uses. This suggests that not only was Trump snooping through the debate about whether his literacy problems made him unpresidential, he also saw something in the words “he’s just not Presidential material” that caused his increasingly addled mind to conclude “I really like what this tweet says about me.”
