Sally Yates says what we’re all thinking about Donald Trump
Donald Trump fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates in early 2017 in the hope of fending off the investigation into his Russia scandal. Since that time the scandal has nonetheless continued to close in on Trump. With four of his people now having been arrested and two of them having cut plea deals against him, Trump is becoming more frantic by the day. This morning he let loose with arguably his most paranoid delusional, and certainly his most criminal, rant to date. Yates, who doesn’t tweet often, promptly said what we’re all thinking about Trump.
Trump posted this surreal tweet on Tuesday morning: “Crooked Hillary Clinton’s top aid, Huma Abedin, has been accused of disregarding basic security protocols. She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents. Remember sailors pictures on submarine? Jail! Deep State Justice Dept must finally act? Also on Comey & others.” The pushback against this monstrous (and illegal) tweet was swift and wide, but Yates hit the nail on the head.
Sally Yates quoted Trump’s felonious slop pile and added this: “POTUS on 12/28: “I have the absolute right to do what I want with the Justice Department.” Today he slanders career DOJ professionals as “deep state,” calls for prison for a political opponent, and tries to sic DOJ on a potential witness against him. Beyond abnormal; dangerous.” It was the first time Yates had tweeted in more than a week, underscoring how important she thought it was to push back against this particular Trump salvo.
Sally Yates has pushed back against Donald Trump several times in recent months. After he attacked the FBI, she fired back with “The FBI is in “tatters”? No. The only thing in tatters is the President’s respect for the rule of law. The dedicated men and women of the FBI deserve better.”
