Donald Trump has his most berserk racist Twitter meltdown yet

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When it was revealed on Friday night that Donald Trump had no official events on his schedule for the weekend, Palmer Report predicted that this would end up being his most unhinged weekend to date. He’s already crumbling under the pressure of his failed Asia trip and his exploding Russia scandal, and now he was about to have far too much free time on his hands. Sure enough, this afternoon Trump went on his most berserk racist Twitter meltdown to date.

Trump tweeted “Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal. I should have left them in jail!” This may not be the most racist thing that Trump has ever tweeted, but it’s the most ridiculous among his racist comments. The negative reaction came fast and furious.

The name “LaVar Ball” immediately became the top trending topic on Twitter, as users pointed out that Trump had picked a public fight with yet another prominent black sports figure. Trump was savaged in particular for his “I should have left them in jail” remark, as he was referring to American citizens imprisoned abroad for minor crimes – a complete dereliction of his duties as President of the United States. Many also perceived that Trump was asserting LiAngelo Ball belongs in prison because he’s black.

The trouble for Donald Trump is that his consistent track record of attacking black athletes has erased any possibility of benefit of the doubt. Trump previously called Colin Kaepernick a “son of a bitch” and called for him to lose his job after Kaepernick exercised his First Amendment rights. Trump also publicly disinvited Steph Curry from the White House.
