Monica Crowley, who asked Putin to hack Hillary’s emails, registers as pro-Kremlin foreign agent

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Back when Monica Crowley was working as a Fox News analyst and de facto Donald Trump campaign surrogate, she created controversy by publicly calling on Russian president Vladimir Putin to illegally hack Hillary Clinton’s emails. Now that she’s officially registering as a paid pro-Kremlin foreign agent, it puts her earlier words in a startling new context suggesting a possible criminal conspiracy.

Crowley tried to join the Trump administration earlier this year, and was announced as a deputy on the National Security Council. But that was immediately thwarted when it came to light that her most recent book was heavily plagiarized. Now she’s registering with the U.S. government as a foreign agent of a Ukrainian political figure who’s little more than a puppet of the Kremlin. Her paperwork claims she’s just now entering into the arrangement, and unlike Michael Flynn, she hasn’t received any past payments. But Crowley did, after all, use her role as a political reporter to call on Putin to steal and publish an American politician’s emails. At the time this was merely seen as overzealous posturing. What if it turns out that, like Flynn, she’s been taking payments from her foreign benefactor all along? Take a look:

To be clear, there is (as of yet) no specific evidence that Monica Crowley was being paid by her pro-Kremlin foreign employer at the time she advocated for the Kremlin to commit a crime against Hillary Clinton. As it stands, Crowley has some serious explaining to do about how she went from political reporter to would-be Trump administration official to admitted paid foreign agent in such a short period of time. And if she was indeed taking Kremlin money at the time she sent her tweet, she’ll have much more to answer for. We’ll keep digging. Contribute to Palmer Report
