Donald Trump can’t even keep his own BS straight anymore

We've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.

At this point it’s difficult to figure out which of Donald Trump’s controversial attacks on American citizens are aimed at distracting from which of his spiraling scandals. Trump seemed to have picked his fight with black NFL football players to distract from his failed response to the Puerto Rico crisis. After his NFL distraction backfired on him, he tried to use Puerto Rico to distract from his distraction. Now he’s completely spun around today in a new downward spiral.

Trump started the day by tweeting that San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz was “nasty” and that Puerto Ricans “want everything to be done for them.” After he seemed to realize that the sexist and racist nature of his attacks was a little too clear to the American mainstream, he later tried backtracking, having suddenly decided that Puerto Ricans are “great people” instead. After his manic, frantic, and self contradictory tweeting about Puerto Rico went on for hours, he finally decided to try something different.

In an apparent attempt at yet another distraction, Trump tweeted “Very important that NFL players STAND tomorrow, and always, for the playing of our National Anthem. Respect our Flag and our Country!” At this point it was clear that he was looking to revisit his prior attacks on black athletes. This went very poorly for him the last time around, as several NFL team owners stood arm in arm with their players during the national anthem last Sunday while some of those players took a knee, in a direct rebuke to Trump’s attacks.

Donald Trump then seemed to decide that this wasn’t a good path to go down, so he quickly reversed course again. Just twenty minutes later he complained that “because of fake news my people are not getting the credit they deserve for doing a great job” in the Puerto Rico relief effort.” The sheer level of manic behavior on Trump’s part today raises the question of whether he may be suffering a psychotic break, or perhaps he found the drug stash at his golf resort.

It's been a tough week, a tough month, a tough year. For all of us. But the fight goes on. Because we know how important this is. Because we care. Because we're the ones who fight. It's you and me. It has been for a decade. And I'm never backing down. But Palmer Report does have operating expenses. And in this uncertain time, I truly need your help. For that reason I've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.
