Oops: Donald Trump didn’t know his Russian mafia buddy Felix Sater was an FBI informant
With each passing day it becomes more clear that the investigation into Donald Trump isn’t limited to his political hijinks with the Russians, or his subsequent obstruction. The probe is also focusing in on Trump’s financial history, which involves everything from money laundering at his casinos, to his series of loans from a bank with a history of Russian money laundering. It’s also focusing in on his relationship with a guy named Felix Sater.
Felix Sater’s name has been in the mix for some time when it comes to the reporting on the Trump-Russia scandal. But according to a new Bloomberg report, the investigation into that scandal is now looking into Trump’s relationship with Sater (link). The short of it is that that two appear to have had significant business dealings, to the point that Sater’s company operated out of Trump Tower. As it turns out, Sater is a Russian mafia figure – and that may not even be the worst part of it for Trump.
Sater has been convicted for his financial involvement with the Russian mafia, which is not a good look for Donald Trump. But at some point along the way, Sater became an FBI informant – something which we reported all the way back in February (link). It’s not publicly known if Sater is still an informant, and if his decision to get involved with Donald Trump was part of his informant work.
The trouble for Donald Trump: he merely thought he was getting into bed financially with a Russian mafia figure when he got involved with Felix Sater. He didn’t know about his buddy’s history as an FBI informant. So just what might Sater be giving the Feds when it comes to Trump? What has he already given them? And why is Trump never able to figure out that these types aren’t really his friends?
