New York Attorney General, longtime nemesis of Donald Trump, targets Rex Tillerson for fraud

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has long a history of carving up Donald Trump’s corrupt financial empire. Schneiderman has taken down everything from the fake Trump University to the fake Trump Foundation. And once Trump is ousted from office, Schneiderman will be free to charge and try him for every financial crime he’s ever committed. But in the mean time, Schneiderman is targeting Trump’s corrupt Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Rex Tillerson is a longtime close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Donald Trump clearly chose him for his cabinet at Putin’s behest. Since that time Tillerson has said little and done even less. He’s nothing more than a figurehead over a State Department that’s being dismantled by Trump, because Putin doesn’t want the United States to have any diplomatic footprint. But because everyone Trump has ever hired has been a criminal, it turns out Tillerson helped perpetrate a fraud while he was the CEO of ExxonMobil – and it happens to fall within the New York State Attorney General’s jurisdiction.

There is still no one outside of Vladimir Putin who knows why someone as comically unqualified as Rex Tillerson was picked for Secretary of State. But that may end up not mattering, if New York AG Eric Schneiderman has his way. According to a report from Talking Points Memo (link), Schneiderman is investigating ExxonMobil’s fraudulent scheme to mislead the public about climate change. This includes Tillerson having used a fake identity in order to spread disinformation about the subject.

Here’s the intriguing part: the New York Attorney General can compel Rex Tillerson to testify in the fraud probe, and there’s nothing Donald Trump can do about it. The president cannot pardon anyone from state level crimes. So if Tillerson is going down for this, he’s going down – and it’ll be a bodyblow to whatever Putin and Trump have been cooking up for Tillerson’s planned role.
