Reince Priebus reduced to reading mean tweets about himself and seeking White House retribution

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Just how ugly have things gotten inside Donald Trump’s White House? There’s no Communications Director, no FBI Director, the Press Secretary is missing, and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus only still has his job because no one wants to be his replacement. Worse for Priebus, he’s now reportedly spending his time searching for mean tweets about himself and then using the White House to try to seek retribution.

That’s the lede buried all the way down in the fourteenth paragraph of a new Politico article (link), which reveals that Reince Priebus now spends hours a day worried about how he’s being portrayed in the media. And then there’s this nugget: “He will even review posts on Twitter that mention his name and urge White House officials to push back against them.”

It’s one thing for the White House Chief of Staff to have fallen into such a bad headspace that all he does is sit around and read mean tweets about himself. It’s another thing entirely for him to be using his position to have the White House come down on those who dare to criticize him. That sounds a lot like Reince has been spending too much time with his boss – and that can’t end well.

It’s part of why we’ve placed Reince Priebus at the top of our betting odds for who’s the next to depart Donald Trump’s sinking White House (link). And if he really is seeking retribution in this manner, he deserves to be shoved out the door. Follow Palmer Report on Facebook and Twitter.
