Ted Cruz ignorantly tried to explain Star Wars to Mark Hamill. It didn’t go well for him.
It’s often been said that for all the differences the Democrats and Republicans in the Senate may have with each other, they all have one thing in common: they all hate Ted Cruz. The Republican Senator from Texas isn’t just a creepy weirdo. He’s also arrogant to the point of absurdity. Just how absurd? Cruz tried to explain Star Wars to Mark Hamill. Suffice it to say that the “Luke Skywalker” actor was far from impressed.
It all began when Donald Trump’s corrupt FCC prick Ajit Pai tried to explain his decision to kill net neutrality by parodying Star Wars. Mark Hamill found it offensive, tweeting “Cute video Ajit ‘Aren’t I Precious?’ Pai – but you are profoundly unworthy 2 wield a lightsaber-A Jedi acts selflessly for the common man-NOT lie 2 enrich giant corporations. Btw-did you pay John Williams his royalty?” This led Ted Cruz to jump in and try to explain Star Wars to Luke Skywalker.
Ted Cruz ignorantly tweeted “Luke, I know Hollywood can be confusing, but it was Vader who supported govt power over everything said & done on the Internet. That’s why giant corps (Google, Facebook, Netflix) supported the FCC power grab of net neutrality. Reject the dark side: Free the net!” The tweet was ridiculous enough as it was, but Cruz took things further by addressing it to @HammillHimself – which is misspelling of Hamill’s name.
This led Mark Hamill to send this response to Ted Cruz: “Thanks for smarm-spaining it to me @tedcruz I know politics can be confusing, but you’d have more credibility if you spelled my name correctly. I mean IT’S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU! Maybe you’re just distracted from watching porn at the office again.” Ted Cruz then responded twice, and each time he ineptly quoted Hamill’s porn insult for all to see.
