Congresswoman Jackie Speier rips into “grotesque” Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump reached yet another new low today when he began sexually harassing Senator Kirsten Gillibrand on Twitter. It’s prompted tremendous backlash, putting a stain on the presidency, and reminding us that he’s nothing short of pure trash. It also elicited a series of strong responses from members of Congress. Jackie Speier may have served up the harshest rebuke of all.

Trump posted this incredibly disgusting tweet this morning: “Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office “begging” for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!” This led Speier to begin testing off on him in response.

Jackie Speier tweeted “This is so grotesque it takes my breath away. @POTUS has lost all sense of propriety and decorum and once again he has shown his conduct is unbefitting the office of the president and the 25th amendment should be invoked.” She then continued: “Senator Gillibrand is a fierce advocate for women who deserves the utmost respect. The President hasn’t seen the full wrath of America’s women yet, but he’s about to.”

Meanwhile, Republican strategist Steve Schmidt pointed out on-air on MSNBC this afternoon that Donald Trump may have unwittingly helped to catapult Kirsten Gillibrand, who is already widely popular and respected nationally, into serious contention for President of the United States in 2020. Schmidt said “There’s no one in the Democratic Party who has had a better month.”
