Amid Russia crisis and health questions, Donald Trump abruptly cancels upcoming trip to Iowa

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. Donald Trump is finally returning home today from an overseas trip which went poorly for him on multiple levels. He offended the allies he was supposed to be getting to know. At various points he appeared physically weak or mentally confused, and at one point had to be hauled around in a golf cart as other G7 leaders walked. His Russia scandal exploded while he was out of town, enveloping his own son-in-law. And now, before even touching down, he’s abruptly canceling his next trip.

Trump was scheduled to travel to Iowa on Thursday for what could have best been described as a pep rally with his remaining supporters — one of the few things he’s seemed to enjoy doing since being sworn in. But now comes word that Trump is canceling the trip, merely citing an “unforeseen” change of plans (link). This serves to invite more questions as to what’s really going on.

On the one hand, Donald Trump is said to be meeting with attorneys this weekend in an urgent attempt at getting a handle on the Russia scandal, which has now grown so severe that the FBI is investigating Jared Kushner’s role in it. But it’s not clear how these current meetings would prevent Trump from being able to travel to Iowa on Thursday.

On the other hand, Trump spent much of his overseas trip coming off as if there’s something wrong with his health. He sounded winded during his Saudi Arabia speech, and couldn’t read the teleprompter correctly. He blankly wandered off during a joint press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu. The golf cart incident raised eyebrows, as well as the question of whether he’s even well enough to walk.

So either Donald Trump and his team have hit the panic button on the Russia scandal so hard that he’s already clearing his schedule nearly a week in advance to focus on it, or he’s not physically well enough to travel to Iowa, or he’s simply hiding from the public as his administration unravels.
