After two weeks of ignoring the post-hurricane crisis in the United States territory of Puerto Rico, Donald Trump is now trying a new strategy of obsessively tweeting about the crisis with little real-world results to show for it. His latest Puerto Rico tweet was so idiotic and demoralizing that he was immediately slammed for it.

Trump tweeted “The electric power grid in Puerto Rico is totally shot. Large numbers of generators are now on Island. Food and water on site.” After two weeks of too little action in an American crisis, the last thing anyone wanted to hear from the failing Trump is that things are “totally shot.” Twitter users ripped into him. Angela Belcamino hit back sarcastically: “Trump only lifted the Jones Act because he thought it had to do with Jerry Jones making the Cowboys stand during the Anthem.” Calvin Stowell went even darker: “Encouraging words. You have the bedside manner of Jigsaw.”

Dr. Eugene Gu had some questions for Trump: “If the situation is so dire in Puerto Rico, why not let international aid organizations help out? Is it because the Jones Act is good for business? American citizens are suffering from a humanitarian crisis. Business be damned.”

Steven Boyer said what we’re all thinking when it comes to Donald Trump: “Would you have waited a week if the American citizens suffering in Puerto Rico weren’t brown?”
