Even the CIA no longer trusts CIA Director Mike Pompeo in Donald Trump’s Russia scandal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Back in June of this year, Palmer Report wrote that Donald Trump’s hand picked CIA Director Mike Pompeo was looking dirtier in Trump’s Russia scandal by the day (link). We made the case that while there isn’t any specific evidence that he’s dirty, his actions were increasingly suspicious. Now it turns out even the CIA itself no longer trusts Pompeo when it comes to Trump’s Russia scandal.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting tonight that the CIA’s Counterintelligence Mission Center has “kept a watchful eye on Pompeo” when it comes to his interactions and dealing with Trump (link). That’s right, the CIA itself is now effectively spying on its own CIA Director, because the President is that obviously guilty, and the Director is in just that suspicious a position. There’s never been anything like this. And yet you had to see it coming.

Here’s what we wrote about Mike Pompeo back in June: “Donald Trump hand picked Pompeo to run the CIA by plucking him out of Congress, which is cause for alarm considering Trump’s pattern of surrounding himself with corrupt people who are personally loyal to him … Pompeo kept giving Trump classified security briefings while Michael Flynn was in the room, even though he knew Flynn was on the payrolls of multiple foreign governments.” It’s always tricky to point out that someone is acting in a guilty manner when there’s no specific evidence that they are in fact guilty, but that’s precisely what the landscape has been for some time.

Now we’re learning that even the CIA agrees. What stands out here the most is that these CIA agents, the ones keeping an eye on Pompeo, have to be the ones who gave this story to the newspaper today. So not only are they spying on their own Director, they want to make sure he knows they’re watching his every move.
