Here come the rest of those Trump-Russia indictments

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

There’s a reason Donald Trump and his allies are frantically trying to sabotage Special Counsel Robert Mueller: they fear he’s about to drop the next round of indictments in the Trump-Russia investigation, which will push the scandal to the point where Trump can’t survive it. Now one person closely involved with the investigation says that yes, the rest of those indictments are indeed on their way.

Senate Intelligence Committee ranking member Mark Warner has been helping to lead the primary congressional investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal, even as Robert Mueller has been running the criminal investigation into the same scandal. Although Warner isn’t officially working with Mueller, he’s well aware of what Mueller is up to. While appearing on-air on MSNBC on Thursday evening, Warner confirmed that “more” indictments are coming. So what does this mean?

It helps to confirm what Trump and his allies are already signaling that they fear: Mueller is about to indict the heaviest of hitters. He’s already arrested Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and he’s cut a deal with former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Now he’s surely eyeing even bigger fish. The only names remaining: Donald Trump Jr, Jared Kushner, Jeff Sessions, Mike Pence, and Donald Trump himself. Even if Trump does try to find a way to fire Robert Mueller, it’s a complicated process. He can’t actually fire Mueller directly.

Trump would need to fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and then fire everyone in the line of succession after him, until he found someone at the DOJ willing to commit the federal crime of firing Mueller. By that time, Mueller could easily arrest any Trump-Russia targets he likes. Court records suggest he’s sitting on a number of sealed indictments. In addition, he can arrest Trump-Russia suspects based on probable cause alone, without needing an indictment.
