Donald Trump and his advisers hold panicked meeting which dissolves into fighting
Despite having scored the only legislative accomplishment of his failed presidency this week, Donald Trump has been more agitated than usual in his public appearances and his Twitter posts. It’s pointed to trouble behind the scenes, as Trump’s Russia scandal closes in on him, and his allies have become panicked enough to invoke every bit of misdirection they can think of. Now we’re getting confirmation that Trump and his team really are melting down – and taking it out on each other.
Trump and his advisers held a meeting on Wednesday which was supposedly focused on the 2018 congressional elections, if anyone is willing to believe that his collapsing administration is really thinking that far ahead. The New York Times (link) says the meeting ended up being a disaster, as Corey Lewandowski ended up angrily ripping into nearly everyone in the room. Wait a minute, Lewandowski doesn’t even work in the White House.
Lewandowski, the first of Trump’s three controversial campaign managers, now works for America First Policies – a shell group where Trump stashes his personally loyal advisers who have become too controversial to officially work for the White House. The New York Times being the New York Times, its reporting tries to understate the fighting going in the meeting by using phrases like “took pointed aim,” which we all know means that people were flat out yelling at each other.
In fact, Lewandowski and another Trump pseudo-adviser were apparently still yelling at each other outside the Oval Office after the meeting, and then kept yelling at each other elsewhere on the White House grounds. This comes even after Donald Trump hired retired General John Kelly to ostensibly bring order to his juvenile White House. This is just the latest sign that Trump and his people are panicking as Robert Mueller moves closer to taking them all down.
