After having spent months insisting that Russian election meddling in his favor was a “hoax” or “fake news,” Donald Trump finally screwed up today and admitted the truth. He was so eager to criticize President Obama for not doing enough to prevent the Russia from rigging the election in his favor, he ended up unwittingly admitting that it happened. This prompted pundits, congressman, and just about everyone else to pile on after Trump blew it.

Donald Trump tweeted: “Just out: The Obama Administration knew far in advance of November 8th about election meddling by Russia. Did nothing about it. WHY?”

It took all of three minutes for MSNBC host Joy Reid to call him out for it: “So you’re admitting Russia meddled in the election to help you win?”

Keith Olbermann then got in on the act: “You do realize you just confessed that Russia meddled in the election you won, right? That you were the beneficiary of their act of war?”

Counterintelligence expert Clint Watts also hit back: “Maybe Obama admin trying to figure out why you & Kremlin were saying the same things at the same time while election hacks were occurring. Or maybe they were trying to figure out why you would cite Russian false propaganda to mislead Americans and attack a fellow American.”

Congressman Ted Lieu also went hard after Trump: “Dear Donald Trump: The fact that the Obama Administration had a weak response to Russian interference does not mean you should repeat it.”

More than three hours later, Donald Trump still hasn’t deleted his tweet or tried to spin it, so it’s not yet clear whether he’s figured out that he just unwittingly admitted that Russia rigged the election for him. The next time he checks his Twitter mentions, he may be in for a surprise. If you’re a regular reader, feel free to support Palmer Report
