Donald Trump begins inevitable Twitter meltdown about James Comey and Hillary Clinton. Sad!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This morning Hillary Clinton made a public appearance in which she took full responsibility for any mistakes she may have made during the election, while also pointing out that she defeated him in the popular vote by three million votes even after FBI Director James Comey tipped the scales in Trump’s favor at the last minute. It’s taken him nearly ten hours, but Trump’s inevitable meltdown response on Twitter has finally begun.

At precisely 10:51pm eastern time, Donald Trump tweeted “FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds! The phony…” After that he went quiet. Then sixteen minutes later Trump finally remembered how to use Twitter, and finished his thought: “…Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election. Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?”

Several things stand out here. One is that it’s yet another reminder of how easy it is to bait Donald Trump into predictable behavior. Hillary Clinton knew that Trump would end up having a Twitter meltdown about her words today, and she even said so. Yet Trump couldn’t help himself; he’s just that easily played. Trump is also strangely referring to himself in the third person for no apparent reason. And he’s once again insisting that his Russia scandal is somehow not real.

And finally, Donald Trump isn’t usually up and tweeting this late. He tends to wake up early and begin his Twitter rants at around 7:30am eastern time. In the rare instances where he’s begun ranting on Twitter late at night, he’s tended to keep at it for half the night, growing more outrageous with his tweets as the night goes on. And of course this comes the night before James Comey is scheduled to testify regarding the FBI’s very real investigation into Trump’s Russia scandal. So Trump’s maniacal tweeting may well continue into tomorrow. Help fund Palmer Report
