Donald Trump defends Russian media, calls for American media to be investigated, in unhinged rant
Because he was coming off a day full of bad news for him, we all knew Donald Trump would start the day off with a bang and a whimper. Sure enough, before the sun was even up, Trump had begun tweeting whiny toxic garbage. He touched on a number of topics, most of them throwaway nonsense. But one of his rants in particular was enough to raise eyebrows when it came to what he was calling for, and whom he seemed to be defending.
Shortly after bragging about how “wonderful” it was to meet with Las Vegas shooting victims, Trump tweeted “Why Isn’t the Senate Intel Committee looking into the Fake News Networks in OUR country to see why so much of our news is just made up-FAKE!” He’s dishonestly attacked the media plenty of times before, but this was somewhat different. He was tacitly defending Russian propaganda news outlets while calling for the Senate to investigate the American free press.
This was, of course, just the second of three times in which Trump tweet-whined about supposed “fake news” during the course of the morning. The first time around, he cited Fox News jackass Geraldo Rivera in accusing legitimate news outlets of being “fake news” because they accurately covered his disastrously embarrassing visit to Puerto Rico. Is he trying to imply the paper towel-throwing incident didn’t happen? Nice try, we’ve all seen the video.
Donald Trump also accused NBC News of being “fake news” for accurately reporting that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had called him a “moron.” Even Tillerson refused to deny the report. Yet Trump seemed to be upset that NBC didn’t call Trump first for “verification” of the story. Perhaps the Senate Intel Committee should be investigating why Trump wakes up at 6:30 every morning and immediately begins tweeting mentally unstable nonsense.
