James Comey’s dad is now talking smack about Donald Trump

We've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.

Who knew that former FBI Director James Comey, who stands hulkishly at six-foot-eight and has displayed the demeanor of an android during his congressional testimony, even had a father? And yet we’ve now reached the point in Donald Trump’s rapidly devolving presidency in which Comey’s dad has now joined the fray, talking smack about Trump in his son’s defense.

It’s still not clear to what extent James Comey is or is not facilitating these leaks that his friends and now his family keep revealing to the public. But those leaks have become commonplace since Trump abruptly fired Comey to try to make his own Russia scandal go away. Now J. Brien Comey, the father of James Comey, is telling CNN that “Trump runs around lying most of the day” (link) and painting him as a cowardly figure.

The elder Comey asserts that Donald Trump was “scared to death” of the younger Comey, and that he fired him for a number of inappropriate reasons. Of course it’s not surprising to see a father defending his son. But what stands out here the most prominently is that Trump has handled all of this in such cartoonishly inappropriate fashion that even James Comey’s dad has publicly gotten involved.

It appears the final straw for the father was when it leaked out that Donald Trump told the Russians during an Oval Office meeting that Comey was a “nut job.” But even with this all rapidly devolving into a game of Apprentice-style Family Feud, the real fireworks are yet to come: James Comey has agreed to publicly testify before Congress about the whole thing.

It's been a tough week, a tough month, a tough year. For all of us. But the fight goes on. Because we know how important this is. Because we care. Because we're the ones who fight. It's you and me. It has been for a decade. And I'm never backing down. But Palmer Report does have operating expenses. And in this uncertain time, I truly need your help. For that reason I've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.
