Chuck Schumer reports Donald Trump’s goons to the police after they try to set him up
Donald Trump’s goons tried to plant a fake story about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer having sexually harassed a former staffer, and not only did the reporter fail to fall for it, Schumer ended up calling the police to report it as a crime. It was a bizarre sequence of events that backfired on Trump’s own people – just one day after some of Trump’s most infamous goons had bragged on Twitter about a plot to take down an unnamed Democratic leader the day before.
Someone sent a document to several major news outlets which falsely claimed to be from an attorney representing a former Chuck Schumer staffer. The document laid out serious sexual harassment allegations. However, the staffer in question quickly confirmed that she was not involved, and that the document was some kind of forgery. Not a single news outlet ended up falling for the stunt. Schumer’s office then released a statement confirming that they had turned the fake document over to the police (link). Then things got even stranger.
To be clear, we have no idea who was behind the fake document, as that’ll have to be sorted out by law enforcement investigators, and perhaps eventually the court system. But we will point out that just one day before this all went down, one of the guys behind the “Pizzagate” hoax tweeted that he and one of his fellow pro-Trump bloggers were about to take down a Democratic leader in a sexual harassment scandal. He then immediately deleted the tweet.
We have no way of knowing whether or not these were the two particular pro-Trump goons were behind the falsified document about Chuck Schumer; perhaps this was merely a coincidence and they were referring to someone else with their tweet. But let’s just say that serious legal trouble is on the horizon for them for whichever of Trump’s goons were behind this Schumer stunt.
