As his world collapses, Donald Trump takes out his frustrations on Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner
Depending on which media narrative you’ve chosen to believe, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are in Donald Trump’s White House because they want to prevent him from acting on his most deranged ideas, or because they’re using him to further their own personal agendas, or they’re just sort of there for no reason. In any case, now that Trump’s world is collapsing in on him, leaks reveal that he’s taking out his frustrations on Ivanka and Jared in particular.
This week Jared’s camp leaked to Vanity Fair that Donald Trump has repeatedly told Jared and Ivanka to resign from the White House and move back to New York. He keeps telling them that it’s the best thing for their own reputations, but there appears to be more to it. The New York Times is reporting that Donald is complaining about Ivanka to his aides after she interfered with his endorsement of Roy Moore (link). There’s also a strange new story about Rex Tillerson refusing to send anyone important to accompany Ivanka on her next overseas trip (link), a move he would not make without Donald’s approval.
At the least, Donald Trump has placed Ivanka and Jared in the doghouse. However, additional media reports suggest that this feud runs much deeper. A pair of stories in the Washington Post and New York Times last night, both of which appeared to come from Jared’s camp, both insist that Jared’s White House role has been all but wiped out.
Put this all together, and it sounds like Donald Trump is trying to force Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump out of his White House by any means possible, and Jared is trying to lay the groundwork for it being Donald’s fault when they do inevitably bail out. As has long been expected, the heightening Trump-Russia scandal is now tearing the Trump family apart.
