Democrat Claire McCaskill has a message for Republicans who claimed she was “ranting and raving”

Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri delivered an impassioned speech on the Senate floor calling out the Republican Party for trying to ram overwhelmingly unpopular and fatally flawed “TrumpCare” American Health Care Act through without proper hearings. This led a number of Republicans to try to dismiss her words by insisting she was “ranting and raving.” But it turns out McCaskill has something to say about that.

First came Senator McCaskill’s impassioned three minute speech against the AHCA, which you can watch in this video clip:

Then came the accusations from Republicans that she was “ranting and raving” during her speech, which she decidedly was not. But this merely prompted McCaskill to tweet “Help me in 18 if you liked my rant!” along with a direct link to donate to her 2018 Senate reelection campaign.

Meanwhile Claire McCaskill and the Senate Democrats continue to push back against the disastrous TrumpCare, while the Republicans try to ram it through under cover of darkness. But this incident fits an ongoing larger pattern. McCaskill speaks out passionately, Republicans accuse her of ranting and raving. Senator Kamala Harris asks important questions of a witness, and she’s silenced by a Republican committee chair. Nancy Pelosi speaks up against corrupt legislation and a Republican keeps trying to shut her down. The pattern here is obvious enough: when female politicians speak up, Republican politicians try to silence them. But none of these women are backing down.
