Mike Pence gets buried for pretending he can’t understand the importance of climate change

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The vast majority of people in America and around the world wanted Donald Trump to remain in the Paris Climate Accord, but for reasons known only to him, he decided to withdraw. It turns out Mike Pence was all too happy to step up and defend the indefensible decision – and Pence paid the price in the form of immediate widespread blowback.

Mike Pence appeared on Fox News on Friday morning and stated that “For some reason, this issue of climate change has emerged as a paramount issue for the left – in this country and around the world.” (link). It was the “for some reason” part that got him into immediate trouble.

For instance Congressman Ted Lieu fired back at Pence, stating “The reason, Mr. Vice President, is called “science.” A synonym would be “facts.” The concept called “truth” would also work.”

But Ted Lieu was far from the only one who buried Mike Pence over his willful ignorance on the issue. Jonathan Katz fired back by pointing out that the Republican Party is “The only major political party in the world, left, right or center, that doesn’t think climate change is a major issue is the US GOP.”

Elsewhere it was pointed out that Pope Francis thinks that addressing climate change is a christian moral imperative, meaning that Mike Pence and his brand of “christian conservatives” aren’t really christians:

Finally, tennis legend Martina Navratilova revealed that she has a far more sophisticated and accurate and honest grasp of political and social issues than the guy currently holding the office of Vice President of the United States:

This kind of willful ignorance coming from Mike Pence may help explain why his own approval rating is nearly as bad at that of Donald Trump. Follow Palmer Report on Facebook and Twitter. If you’re a regular reader, feel free to support Palmer Report
