As his world crashes down on him, Donald Trump has total late-night Twitter meltdown
Throughout the course of Wednesday, there seemed to be a race to see whether Donald Trump could actively make his own troubles worse more quickly than they were already becoming in their own right. Robert Mueller may have found a way to force Michael Flynn to flip. Trump’s own antics may have turned Steve Bannon into a suspect. And Trump’s dinner with the Democrats instantaneously backfired on him. It was all enough to prompt Trump to stage a late night total meltdown.
The bad news for Trump came quickly on Wednesday. His own prior false accusations against Obama-era National Security Adviser Susan Rice had led to the revelation that Bannon was in on a Trump-Russia meeting, making him a new potential target in the investigation (link). Special Counsel Robert Mueller was revealed to be targeting Michael Flynn’s son to get Flynn to flip on Trump (link). And after Trump caved to the Democrats on the border wall during a Wednesday evening dinner, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi quickly announced that Trump had caved (link). This is when his meltdown came.
Trump appeared to realize just how weak he looked for having caved to the Democrats on the border wall, so he forced Sarah Huckabee Sanders to tweet a tepid rebuttal which implied he hadn’t caved on it. That’s around the time Trump completely lost it, and began using his own account to tweet hallucinatory garbage about his former election opponent: “Crooked Hillary Clinton blames everybody (and every thing) but herself for her election loss. She lost the debates and lost her direction!” But it got worse.
Seemingly unsatisfied with his first stab at lunacy, Donald Trump then posted another deranged tweet: “The ‘deplorables’ came back to haunt Hillary. They expressed their feelings loud and clear. She spent big money but, in the end, had no game!” Trump’s world is now crashing down on him – and he’s having a meltdown for the ages.
