Unsealed records show Donald Trump’s Muslim Ban was really a fascist attempt at destroying Congress

You can’t use the word “fascist” in a headline without inviting scrutiny. But after you’ve finished reading what I’ve just read, I suspect you’ll end up concluding that it’s warranted. Federal records from the day Donald Trump’s Muslim Ban first went into effect have finally been unsealed thanks to a Freedom of Information Act Request by the Daily Beast, and it paints a shocking picture of the Trump regime having tried to seize power in a manner which went far beyond targeting travelers.

Emails from the Customs and Border Protection reveal that the Trump administration ordered agents to block members of Congress from having access to detained travelers, or access to any information about what was going on. Agents weren’t even allowed to so much as speak with the members of Congress who showed up at airports to try to sort out the chaos. This was even as the Trump regime was illegally holding travelers at airports as de facto prisoners, while making every effort to prevent those prisoners from having any access to legal representation.

In other words, the Muslim Ban wasn’t just an embarrassingly racist and xenophobic low in American history. It was also cover for a more fundamental experiment in which the Trump regime tried to forcibly overthrow the elected Congress of the United States. This was an attempted coup de etat on the part of Donald Trump. It wasn’t enough that he had just gotten away with treasonously conspiring with a foreign enemy to rig the election in his favor; now he was going to wipe out Congress and install himself as de facto Emperor with singular control over everything.

It instinctively feels like an exaggeration just to type these kinds of words. But after you read this Daily Beast expose, you’ll be as shocked and outraged as I am – even at a time when many of us thought we could no longer be shocked or outraged by this treasonous criminal raging monster.
