Things get ugly between Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump
The relationship between Donald Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner has been deteriorating for some time, as they each seek to avoid criminal obstruction of justice charges by nudging investigators in each other’s direction when it comes to the firing of FBI Director James Comey. Now we have confirmation that the trouble between Donald and Jared has also turned things ugly for Donald and his daughter Ivanka.
How bad have things gotten? Donald Trump is now repeatedly telling Ivanka and Jared to quit his White House and move back to New York City, according to the final paragraph of a new Vanity Fair profile (link). Donald’s excuse for urging them to leave is that being in the political eye is harming their reputations. But there’s no overlooking the fact that he’s telling his daughter that he wants her to move away.
Considering that Donald Trump is in a world of hurt right now, with his presidency in full scale collapse, his scandals overwhelming him, and his cognitive abilities clearly continuing to worsen, it’s nothing short of stunning that he would tell Ivanka he wants her to move away. He needs her around more than ever, if only to keep him from doing something truly self defeating. So his decision to push her away merely serves to confirm just how badly he no longer wants her around.
It’s anyone’s guess as to whether Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner will heed Donald Trump’s urging and actually move back to New York. But with new headlines now surfacing every few days about Donald and Jared trying to throw each other under the bus to protect themselves in the Trump-Russia scandal, it’s clear that the entire family dynamic is now broken. And of course this is all before getting to Donald Trump Jr’s own criminal culpability.
