Donald Trump fiddles while his administration burns

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s administration is crumbling by the day. His approval rating is in the toilet. The Republicans in Congress are turning against him. His attempt at working with the Democrats has enraged his own base. His Russia scandal is turning his entire White House and his family upside down. So how is Trump dealing with the pressure? He’s not. Instead, much like Nero fiddling while Rome burned, Donald spent the morning tweeting toxic garbage to try to make himself feel better.

Trump started off on familiar ground, one again demonstrating his lack of understanding of how Congress works: “With the ridiculous Filibuster Rule in the Senate, Republicans need 60 votes to pass legislation, rather than 51. Can’t get votes, END NOW!” Then Trump began making unfounded assumptions about the nature of an attack in London: “Another attack in London by a loser terrorist. These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!”

Trump went on to take credit for the fact that President Obama largely wiped out ISIS before leaving office: “We have made more progress in the last nine months against ISIS than the Obama Administration has made in 8 years.Must be proactive & nasty!” Then, he decided to attack a sports network after one of its employees accurately called him a white supremacist: “ESPN is paying a really big price for its politics (and bad programming). People are dumping it in RECORD numbers. Apologize for untruth!”

Finally, Donald Trump simply began throwing things at the wall in the hope of getting something to stick: “CHAIN MIGRATION cannot be allowed to be part of any legislation on Immigration!” This last tweet gave the impression that Trump had just moments earlier heard the term “chain migration” for the first time. Meanwhile, things continue to crumble for Trump as he fiddles on Twitter.
