Donald Trump has reached a level of mental derangement and mental incapacity that’s not only never before been seen in the Oval Office, it’s arguably never before been seen in human history. It’s not just that during his New York Times interview he began talking about Adolf Hitler for no apparent reason and then declared that he was having a good time. No, all we have to do is look at the two disparate claims he’s made about what was being discussed at the G20 summit.

When the G20 first kicked off, Donald Trump tweeted that “Everyone here is talking about why John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA. Disgraceful!” (link). This tells us that he was wandering up foreign leaders and telling them some nonsense about John Podesta of all people, as they pretended to know or care what the hell he was talking about, and then he took their feigned interest as a sign that they were as obsessed with the topic as he was.

And now here’s how Donald Trump is explaining away his surreptitious second G20 meeting with Vladimir Putin: “It was not a long conversation, but it was, you know, could be 15 minutes. Just talked about — things. Actually, it was very interesting, we talked about adoption.” It was actually more than an hour by all accounts. And while it may have included a discussion about the Magnitsky Act as it relates to U.S. sanctions against Russia, it certainly wasn’t a conversation about adoption.

But in Donald Trump’s deluded and hallucinatory and broken mind, everyone else at the G20 summit was running around talking about John Podesta’s email server, while only he and Putin had to good sense to discuss adoption instead. And he appears to truly believe these things happened. God help us all.
