Donald Trump’s latest Twitter meltdown sounds like Scarface after he stuck his face in that pile of cocaine

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has finally pulled off the arrest of a government leaker, which he had been so desperately seeking for so long, and yet now he can’t seem to handle having lost the spotlight to her. Maybe it’s because her name is (somehow) Reality Winner, and he’s a reality show loser. But, whatever the reason, Trump is digging himself a hole on Twitter right now in a manner which reads like the Unabomber manifesto, and I for one recommend that we help him out by handing him a shovel.

Trump started the day by continuing his vicious personal attacks on the mayor of London, after his first round of insults toward the mayor over the weekend had gone over so poorly. But even that was just a warmup for the deep end from which Trump departed from after the arrest of Reality Winner was announced today. You’d think he’d be gloating, or insisting he was right, or hurling personal insults at the woman he just threw in prison. But instead he’s going apoplectic on another topic entirely.

Here’s what Donald Trump tweeted this evening:

Even by Trump’s usual hyperbolic and infantile Twitter standards, this sounds like nothing more than the ramblings of a madman who knows he’s on his last stand. Trump sounds like Scarface after he stuck his face in that pile of cocaine, or Saddam Hussein’s last rant as the bombs were dropping on him. Trump is willfully blowing up any slim chance he might have had of getting his Muslim ban reinstated, and he sounds like someone who’s already decided that his presidency has failed.

Last night I wrote that we’d reached the tricky part where Donald Trump is figuring out no one thinks he’s any good at this (link). This is more or less what I was alluding to. Trump knows his presidency is in a hole from which it won’t emerge, so like the barely contained sociopath that he is, he’s spitefully digging even further. But if this is how he wants to hasten his inevitable removal from office, then by all means, someone hand that madman Trump a shovel. Follow Palmer Report on Facebook and Twitter.
