In the past five days, Michael Flynn has cut a plea deal in the Trump-Russia scandal, KT McFarland has been caught admitting in an email that the campaign knew Russia had rigged the election, and Robert Mueller has successfully subpoenaed banking records connected to Trump and Russia. As a result, Donald Trump is now scared out of his mind. We know this because he just spent the day telling us so.

In fact, Trump has spent the day very loudly and clearly telling us that he’s panicked out of his mind, by tweeting absolutely nothing. Two tweets have been posted to his official Twitter account today, but one was a promotional video and the other was promoting a rally. Trump never writes those kinds of tweets himself; they’re always posted by his social media team. This means that Trump has said nothing at all publicly today. It’s so rare for Trump to roll out of bed in the morning and not tweet anything, I actually thought my notifications were broken when nothing came through. So what does this tell us?

In the very rare past instances in which Trump has tweeted nothing, it’s been because so much bad news has surfaced about him, he’s gone into panic mode. Some have suggested that Trump’s handlers have taken his phone away from him in these circumstances, but in reality these handlers are all sycophants. Trump can get access to his own phone any time he wants. His lack of tweets today suggests he’s become – for the moment at least – a deer in the headlights.

That may change soon. Past history suggests that even in the rare instances where Donald Trump is scared into silence, it usually only lasts a day or two. Soon enough we’ll see Trump go berserk on Twitter, revealing just how demented his thoughts are about these recent events. But for the moment, Trump is scared out his mind. His silence tends to speak the most loudly of all.
