Robert Mueller’s marathon finally turns the corner

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I’ve spent all of 2017 trying to impress three core tenets upon my readers. First, Donald Trump is going down for his Russia scandal and his other crimes in the end. Second, the ouster of a U.S. President – even a corrupt and illegitimate one – is a very long and very complicated process. Third, in a war this convoluted, nothing is ever quite what it seems in the moment. This is a marathon, full of twists and turns. But now we know that, without question, Robert Mueller is winning.

This goes against nearly everything you’re hearing in the public discourse right now. The right wing propaganda factory is inventing cartoonish scandals about Mueller as we speak, and its brainwashed audience is lapping it up in braindead fashion. The mainstream media is almost perversely insistent that Mueller is about to get fired, despite literally zero evidence to support that notion, simply because the storyline makes for great ratings.

Remember the last five times they had us convinced that Mueller was five minutes from getting fired? Yet we’re tempted to fall for it yet again, perhaps now more than ever, because when you’re winning you always become more nervous as you get nearer to the finish line. Stop and ask yourselves why Trump’s remaining allies are suddenly so desperate to tarnish Mueller’s reputation. They know that the Michael Flynn plea deal means the end has been written. All they can do now is muddy the waters as much as possible, so that when Mueller destroys Trump by unleashing the evidence Flynn has given him, they’ll at least have a talking point about how that proof is somehow tainted.

As for the mainstream media, it’s all about – as always – ratings, ratings, and most importantly, ratings. They know you’re vulnerable right now to the “Mueller is going to be fired any minute” narrative, because they know that getting closer to the finish line makes you inherently nervous. These are the same mainstream media outlets who, just as it was becoming absolutely clear that Hillary Clinton was going to be fully exonerated in her phony email scandal, began pushing the imaginary “Hillary is going to prison” storyline even more voraciously. Too many on our side mistakenly think this has something to do with partisanship. It does not. It’s only a conspiracy of ratings.

Robert Mueller won when he got Micheal Flynn to flip, and Donald Trump lost. The remainder of the marathon still must be completed, and it’s still a long one, but the outcome is no longer really in doubt. That’s what makes you so skittish right now; knowing your side is going to win, but nervously seeking proof so you can stop worrying about it.

Donald Trump’s goons were always going to go berserk about Mueller once they realized it was 100% certain he would succeed in taking Trump down. When they went off the deep end after the Flynn deal, it was as close to proof of Mueller’s impending victory as you’re going to get. The mainstream media was always going to try to convince you Mueller was about to get fired just as Mueller was about to take Trump down. Just keep in mind that the media has been wrong every time it’s made the exact same confident prediction over the past year. It’s all simply proof that Mueller has turned the corner, and is indeed on his way to victory.
