Rexnord factory in Indiana moves jobs to Mexico; Donald Trump tries to blame President Obama. Sad!

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. How long has Donald Trump been occupying the office of President of the United States now? It feels like three and a half years. The calendar says it’s only been three and a half months. But that’s still long enough for him to have thrown around his political muscle. And if the recent actions of an Indiana factory are any indication, then Trump has no political muscle to speak of. So naturally he’s trying to blame President Obama instead.

Just before the election, back in mid October, Milwaukee based manufacturing company Rexnord announced that it would move three hundred of its jobs at an Indiana manufacturing plant to Mexico (link). After Trump was named the winner of the election, he began specifically targeting Rexnord in December over the planned move (link). But Trump had no influence on the matter, during the transition period or during his presidency. And six weeks ago, Rexnord began laying people off in Indiana (link), signaling that Trump had failed in his endeavor.

Yet for some reason today, Donald Trump decided to begin publicly attacking Rexnord once again, now that it’s too late for it to matter:

And so here we have Donald Trump once again blaming President Obama for something that Trump had plenty of time to intervene on, if he’d known how, or if it had even been possible. Also, from his tweet, it’s not clear if Trump is even aware that Rexnord is a Wisconsin based company, and not based in the state of Indiana where the plant is. Perhaps Trump couldn’t find a solution because he paid so little attention to the details of the situation.

Many on Twitter accused Trump of lashing out at Rexnord today to try to distract from his preferred candidate in the French election, Marine Le Pen, having lost by more than twenty points earlier in the day. Help fund Palmer Report
