Mentally deteriorating Donald Trump thinks Obamacare has been around for seventeen years

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s not enough for Donald Trump to keep outright lying about Obamacare by inventing imaginary downsides while ignoring its many benefits. Now Trump is trying a bizarre new approach: lying about how long it’s been around. Except he’s probably not lying about that part, so much as deteriorating mentally in such swift fashion that he now truly believes that Obamacare has somehow been around for seventeen years.

While appearing in front of a group of White House interns who are probably insured because of Obamacare, Donald Trump made the following claim: “For the past seventeen years Obamacare has wreaked havoc on the lives of innocent hard working Americans.” (link). Seventeen years? That would mean Obamacare first went into effect in the year 2000, just as Bill Clinton was preparing to hand off the White House to George W. Bush. In reality, Obamacare went into effect in the year 2014, just three years ago. Based on his own tweets, Trump has been following politics closely for at least the past four years, and would have known this quite well.

Many people misspeak on occasion, and archived footage can be found of every modern president having misspoken in an embarrassing way at least once. But with Donald Trump, these kinds of incidents have been the norm from the start of his entry into politics, and are now becoming far more frequent and more severe. Trump also has an increasing habit of wandering off while looking confused. He wandered out of a press conference in Israel while it was still going on. He wandered out of a bill signing in the Oval Office. He wandered away from his own motorcade on the tarmac.

So when Donald Trump made his incoherent and impossible claim today that Obamacare has been around for seventeen years instead of three years, it’s yet another red flag about his declining mental condition. After all, Trump just claimed that “Obamacare” went into effect nine years before Barack Obama even became president.
