Ivanka Trump scandal gets even uglier
There is a good reason that anti-nepotism laws exist in the United States. There is not a good reason why Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have ignored such laws to work for Donald Trump in the White House. Looking at 5 U.S. Code § 3110, it lays out the law prohibiting the employment of relatives. So why should we accept the promises of these proven liars that they will not use their positions to personally enrich themselves further? So far, they have only provided us with reasons that we should be calling for their immediate eviction from the White House.
Recent reporting shows that Kushner has requested more top secret classified intelligence than nearly every other person working in the White house, despite the fact he STILL is only working on an interim clearance and will likely NEVER receive permanent security clearance. Why is he asking for so much classified information? While he might claim to be working towards “peace in the Middle East” we know the answer is much more likely to be to sell that intelligence to any of our foreign adversaries. After all he has done to show how little loyalty he has to America, combined with the massive debt that is owed by his real estate company, is it really that farfetched to believe he’d be willing to sell out USA once again?
Despite her promise to forego personal business interests while working for her father, it seems impossible to differentiate Advisor/Diplomat from First Daughter. Her recent statement that it was “inappropriate” for her to be asked about the multitude of sexual assault claims against her dad is understandable if she’s not a senior adviser to Donald.
But when we remember she was just in South Korea to represent America at the Olympic closing ceremonies, we see someone who wants to take advantage of the position while ignoring all of the requirements that used to go with it. We shall see how long Jared and Ivanka remain in the White House but when this failed Trump experiment is over, can we please go back to following rules and laws like 5 U.S. Code § 3110?
