As her father went berserk, Ivanka Trump spent the morning “liking” pictures of herself

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Last night it was revealed that Donald Trump will end DACA in six months, thus ruining the lives of eight hundred thousand hard working Americans who happen to have been born elsewhere, harming the U.S. economy, and benefiting no one beyond the sadistic racists who like to see non-white people suffer. So did his supposedly non-racist daughter Ivanka Trump spend the morning racing into the Oval Office trying to get him to change his mind? Not quite.

Instead of trying to do anything to stop her father from ruining innocent people’s lives, Ivanka Trump spent the morning liking photos of herself on Instagram. No, really. This is how she’s spending her time these days. It was Politico reporter Madeline Conway (link) who spotted the incident and took a screen capture of it:

It’s one thing to spend time screwing around on social media, as many of us do. It’s another thing to hunt down photos of yourself posted by strangers so you can “like” them. Come to think of it, this is more or less precisely how Donald Trump narcissistically spends his own time on social media, hunting down nice things that have been said about him by random people (often from society’s underbelly) so he can retweet them. So if you’ve been counting on Ivanka Trump to somehow talk her father out of his extremism, you’ve been banking on a myth.

Ivanka Trump either doesn’t give a damn what Donald Trump does, or she has no actual influence over him, or both. Take your pick. When she periodically pops up and generically says the right thing, even as her father is simultaneously doing the wrong thing, it’s not anything to get your hopes up over. She’s trying to protect her own personal brand, deluding herself that her occasional hollow words mean anything. Like father, like daughter.
