Watch Hugh Laurie’s Golden Globes victory speech mocking Donald Trump and Republicans

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

You know Hugh Laurie best for portraying Dr. House on television, and you know him most recently for playing the villain in The Night Manager. He won a Golden Globes award last night for the latter, and he used his acceptance speech to rip one sarcastic joke after another at the expense of Donald Trump and the Republican Party, leaving the audience in stitches.

“I’ll be able to say I won this at the last ever Golden Globes,” Laurie deadpanned, as the audience gradually figured out he was mocking the potentially imminent end of the world under Donald Trump. “I don’t mean to be gloomy. It’s just that it has the words Hollywood, Foreign, and Press in the title. I also think that to some Republicans, even the word Association is slightly sketchy.”
