Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean are officially teaming up to fight Donald Trump
Shortly after the 2016 election, former Vermont Governor emerged as a candidate for DNC Chair, but then just as quickly he removed his name from contention, strongly suggesting that he had instead decided to take on some other role elsewhere. It was never made clear just what path Dean chosen to pursue instead, until today.
Hillary Clinton officially unveiled her new project Onward Together today. Its purpose is to help support and facilitate the Resistance groups and entities that are already independently underway against Donald Trump. She already has a fully fleshed out website for the group (link) and a sign up page. But in her rollout announcement on Twitter (link), she name-checked one person in particular whose involvement with the group is ready to be revealed: Howard Dean.
Governor Dean hasn’t yet made any statements of his own regarding his involvement in the group. But it’s not difficult to figure out what may have attracted him to it. Because Hillary got cheated out of the Presidency and is now a private citizen with nothing to lose, she’s in the position of being able to speak her mind and fight back against Trump without having to worry about how any given word or phrase might impact her future political career.
Howard Dean, who is probably past the point of ever wanting to run for office again, is free to push back however he likes. By teaming up with Hillary Clinton’s group, he’s gaining a major stage from which to push his own anti-Trump message. And he, like Hillary, won’t have to worry about how it plays with those in the American middle who judge liberal politicians based on how polite they are to their abhorrently corrupt conservative opponents. When it comes to Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean, the gloves and shackles are officially off.
