During trip to Texas amid flooding, Melania Trump reminds us just how tone-deaf she is

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump decided to tour Texas today, even though doing it this soon means a major distraction for those on the ground who are still trying do rescue work and emergency management. As Palmer Report has documented, Trump was basically only there to sell his new campaign hats, meaning he personally profited from the visit (link). But then there was the case of Melania Trump, who found her own way to screw up the visit.

It wasn’t merely that Melania Trump was wearing a “FLOTUS” baseball cap which we expect will soon appear alongside Donald’s own already-for-sale “USA 45″ hat in his donaldjtrump.com online store. It was a different part of Melania’s outfit that revealed just how tone-deaf she is. She wore extremely tall stiletto-style high heels while getting on Air Force One to head out on her Texas visit, even though she knew she’d be touring a city that was largely underwater.

Twitter and Facebook users immediately began posting pictures of Melania in her stiletto heels, looking ridiculous in the process. Many have chastised her for not having the common sense to wear more sensible shoes from the start. She did in fact wear flats once she was in Texas, but that was after the image of her wearing stilettos had already been broadcast far and wide. While it’s difficult to say for sure what’s going on inside someone else’s head, I suspect there may be a different explanation.

Melania Trump is a model, and part of her image as a model has always been her height. She’s 5’11” as it is, but the spike heels make her look even taller. My guess is she knew just how inappropriate it was to wear those heels on a day like this, but she didn’t want to be seen in flats until she absolutely had to. And if that’s the case, then it’s reminder that she truly does not understand what it takes to be First Lady, and she’s profoundly tone-deaf to how it surely made Houston’s victims feel to see the First Lady callously getting on a plane to come visit them while wearing stiletto heels.
