Donald Trump had dinner at the White House on Wednesday night with Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, as he continues to try to thumb his nose at his own Republican Party. If anyone believes that Trump has an actual strategy when it comes to his sudden fondness for the Democrats, that notion can now officially be put to bed. Trump is flailing so badly that he is confirmed to have flip flopped on his border wall twice in the span of twenty minutes.

Schumer and Pelosi released a joint statement at 10:01pm eastern time, announcing that they and Trump were able to reach an agreement to pass DACA into law, and in return they had also agreed to “work out a package of border security excluding the wall that’s acceptable to both sides.” This meant that Trump had agreed to flip-flop on his border wall, for relatively little in return. MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell read the statement on-air immediately after it was released. But just twenty minutes later, the tables turned again.

At 10:21pm eastern time, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted that “While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to” (link). Sanders almost certainly tweeted this at the direction of Donald Trump himself. Based on their relative track records, Pelosi and Schumer are telling the truth, and Trump is lying. So now what?

Donald Trump now looks like a wishy washy nincompoop who went into a dinner with Schumer and Pelosi, and gave away the store to them, only to get cold feet the minute they publicly announced what all he had given away. Furthermore, Trump is actively tweeting garbage about Hillary Clinton as we speak, meaning that he could have tweeted the rebuttal himself – but instead he made himself look even weaker by making Huckabee Sanders do it for him.
