Donald Trump’s attorney: I would like to be excluded from this narrative

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Taylor Swift once told Kanye West, after years of controversy between them, “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.” It appears Donald Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen is now taking a page from Swift’s playbook when it comes to the Trump-Russia scandal, without understanding that she’s a pop star and he’s a suspect in an international criminal investigation. Cohen is now asking investigators to simply leave him out of the probe going forward.

This incredible revelation from Michael Cohen is being reported by ABC News which quotes a letter from Cohen’s attorney to the House Intelligence Committee: “We do not believe that the committee should give credence to or perpetuate any of the dossier’s allegations relating to Mr. Cohen unless the committee can obtain independent and reliable corroboration of those allegations, which we do not believe exists” (link). Of course nothing works that way, and this merely serves as a reminder that Trump’s attorney has had to hire an attorney of his own. But this comes at a very strange time.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Donald Trump was trying to build Trump Tower Moscow during the election, and that Cohen had reached out to the Kremlin itself for help in trying to make it happen. This has put Cohen back front and center in the Russia scandal. The assertions about Cohen in the Trump-Russia dossier never were substantiated, but that’s not even the story here. Cohen’s role in trying to get Vladimir Putin to help Donald Trump build a Moscow high-rise during the election is the story.

Not only is Michael Cohen’s latest legal maneuver bound to fail, it only serves to make him look more suspicious. By asking Congress to stop looking into his role in the Russia scandal, he seems to be unwittingly acknowledging that he’s afraid of what the probe will find. If anything, this will cause investigators to focus on him even more thoroughly.
