Donald Trump just tipped off that the Washington Post’s big Trump-Russia bombshell is about to drop
Back when the New York Times was exposing Donald Trump Jr.’s Russia collusion and the Wall Street Journal was exposing Peter W. Smith’s attempted Trump-Russia collusion, there was widespread buzz that the Washington Post had an even bigger Trump-Russia bombshell coming. Weeks later, it still hasn’t emerged. But tonight Donald Trump himself went on a rant about the Washington Post which suggests he knows the mother of all bombshells is about to drop.
Donald Trump posted a three part Twitter rant this evening. It went like this (link): “The Amazon Washington Post fabricated the facts on my ending massive, dangerous, and wasteful payments to Syrian rebels fighting Assad… So many stories about me in the @washingtonpost are Fake News. They are as bad as ratings challenged @CNN. Lobbyist for Amazon and taxes? Is Fake News Washington Post being used as a lobbyist weapon against Congress to keep Politicians from looking into Amazon no-tax monopoly?”
We checked, and the most recent Washington Post story about Donald Trump is merely about Donald Trump and his advisers discussing the possibility of firing Jeff Sessions, which is no secret. So it’s not as if Trump is responding to something that the WaPo has already published. Instead it’s very likely that the WaPo called up his White House and asked for comment on a major Trump-Russia bombshell that it’s preparing to publish, and he expects that it’s about to land shortly. This fits with Trump’s past pattern.
For instance, shortly before the Donald Trump Jr. collusion story was published, Donald Trump began ranting on Twitter about how he and his people weren’t “colluding.” In that instance Trump was specifically pushing back against a story that he knew the New York Times was about to drop. And his rant tonight, which is almost obsessively focused on the Washington Post, points to it delivering a major bombshell of its own. Stay tuned.
