Donald Trump digs an even deeper Russia hole while trying to spite President Obama
Donald Trump has now taken to referring to himself as “T” on Twitter. Perhaps he’s forgotten how to spell his own name. Or perhaps he should listen to Mr. T, who pities the fool that tweets anything as self defeating as what Trump has just tweeted. One day after Trump tried so hard to embarrass President Obama over his handling of the Russian election hacking that he actually admitted the Russians hacked the election, Trump is back at it today, digging himself an even deeper hole.
Trump spent the entire election suggesting that it wasn’t the Russians who were hacking the election; he instead pointed to a four hundred pound bedridden person. Since the election, Trump has continued to deny that the Russians rigged the election for him, even as everyone on all sides has admitted it’s true. Then last night came this gem of a tweet: “Just out: The Obama Administration knew far in advance of November 8th about election meddling by Russia. Did nothing about it. WHY?” Oops.
That’s right, Donald Trump was so eager to stick it to Obama that he ended up admitting what he’s long denied about Russia. So you’d think that some point last night or today he’d figure out that he’d blown it, and start trying to figure out how to walk it back, right? Maybe he could even have his attorney go on television and insist that the tweet never really happened, as he did after he admitted that he’s under investigation for obstruction. But instead, Trump decided to make it worse today.
Here’s what Donald Trump is tweeting about the matter today: “Since the Obama Administration was told way before the 2016 Election that the Russians were meddling, why no action? Focus on them, not T! Obama Administration official said they ‘choked’ when it came to acting on Russian meddling of election. They didn’t want to hurt Hillary?” Uh, no. Someone is choking here, and it’s the guy who refers to himself as “T” when he’s tweeting in the third person.
