Donald Trump is this close to totally losing it over Russia and taking himself down
It’s inevitable that Donald Trump’s Russia scandal will eventually do him in. He has too many underlings who are on the hook for committing crimes in that scandal, and some of them will flip on him, thus exposing his involvement that even his own allies in the party will have no choice but to cut him loose to preserve their own chances of reelection. But the way things are now going, the scandal may cause Trump to take himself down before it can finish him off.
Case in point: in a new Washington Post article whose title suggests that Trump struggling to “stay calm” as the scandal continues to erupt, it’s revealed that he now gets up every morning and immediately calls his own attorneys to talk about the Russia scandal (link). And this isn’t even crisis control, because as we’ve seen Trump has hired the kind of attorneys who are willing to carry out his stupid antics in the media, rather than giving him the solid legal advice he needs.
So now we’ve got a guy facing the daily pressures of the Oval Office to begin with, and barely handling that pressure by all accounts, who is effectively gaslighting himself over his biggest scandal. Even his own staff is now portraying him as some kind of unstable Bruce Banner character, struggling to avoid becoming so agitated as to snap and turn into the Incredible Hulk. The difference is that in the movies, the Hulk (usually) rages destructively on behalf of the good fight. If Trump truly snaps over the pressures of his scandal, he’ll rage himself into the ground instead.
Trump is already sufficiently far gone that he’s tweeting increasingly self incriminating things. He’s given up on any semblance of a political strategy or message. And now comes word that Vladimir Putin is pulling the plug on Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak (link). Just wait until Trump figures out that this means even his Russian allies are cutting their losses on him. Trump’s ultimate explosion is coming. It won’t be pretty. But it should help finish off what little is left of the viability of his presidency. If you’re a regular reader, feel free to support Palmer Report
