Desperate Donald Trump tries to ban the news outlets that are exposing his Russia scandal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Here’s how you know the heightening Trump-Russia scandal is truly getting to Donald Trump and his White House: it’s now begun banning the news outlets from its briefings that are hottest on the trail of breaking the Russia scandal wide open. But even that move backfired today, as a number of other major news outlets are now boycotting the briefings in solidarity.

Impeach Trump Now

At the start of the week, the New York Times exposed a bizarre attempt by the Kremlin to nudge Donald Trump into ousting the president of the Ukraine. And yesterday CNN reported that White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus had tried to pressure the FBI into scuttling its Trump-Russia investigation. In retaliation, Trump banned CNN and the New York Times from today’s press briefing.

Real News. Fake President.

Also banned today were BuzzFeed, which helped expose the Trump-Russia dossier, along with Politico and Huffington Post and the Los Angeles Times, which have also helped to editorially expose the Trump-Russia scandal. Huffington Post offered an expose into today’s briefing boycott. It’s now clear that Donald Trump and his White House are trying to harm the news outlets that are exposing his Russia scandal, in a last ditch effort to get them to back off. But it’s not working.

The Associated Press and Time Magazine both boycotted today’s press briefing when they learned the other news outlets were being banned. The Wall Street Journal attended the briefing, but announced afterward that it also would have boycotted if it had known the other news outlets had been banned. If Trump keeps up these antics, there will be no meaningful news outlets left in his briefings. And if anything, these news outlets will work all the more strenuously to expose the Trump-Russia scandal, because the future freedom of the press now depends on Trump being ousted.
