Desperate Donald Trump scrapes bottom of the barrel with Eric Trump and his wife
Crime family bosses generally prefer hiring their own family members to the top positions in their organization, for reasons driven by both ego and paranoia. But what happens when the most prominent and capable members of the family end up being compromised and can no longer be used? That’s the dilemma which Donald Trump is now facing – and his latest workaround reeks of nothing short of desperation on his part.
Donald Trump has long favored his daughter Ivanka, which helps explain why he’s given almost limitless White House power to her husband Jared Kushner. But Kushner is now in major trouble due to his exposure in the Trump-Russia collusion scandal. Ivanka has also been compromised herself, as she appears to have lied about her husband’s Russian collusion meetings on her own government security clearance forms. And of course Donald Trump Jr. has been thoroughly compromised by his own Russian collusion meeting. So where does that leave Donald Trump Sr? Running into the arms of Eric Trump of all people.
Trump’s seeming disdain for his son Eric, who has long been shoved into the background under the premise that he’s incompetent, is so evident that even Saturday Night live has made light of it. But now that Trump is running out of family members who aren’t trying to fend off accusations of criminal wrongdoing, he’s increasingly turning to Eric and his wife Lara. Late last month they were featured at a fundraiser. And now Trump is having Lara launch her own online “news” show on his social media feed (source: AOL), in what might be Trump’s most surreal desperation move to date.
In reality, not all that much is publicly known about Eric and Lara Trump, in comparison to their more prominent family members. For all we know they might be the only smart ones, and they’re just hiding it for fear anyone will catch on. But what is clear is that Donald Trump himself has never thought much of Eric, or even thought much about Eric.
