After London tweets, CNN reporters finally call out Donald Trump: “not presidential” and a “piece of shit”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It looks like we can finally begin welcoming some of the folks at CNN to the realm of calling it like it is when it comes to Donald Trump, instead of pretending there’s anything normal about the psychologically unsound individual currently occupying the White House. For two CNN reporters at least, Trump’s demented response to the London terrorist attack was enough to prompt them to finally say what we all know to be true.

First it was CNN reporter Reza Aslan, who drew the line after Donald Trump tried to use the London attack to immediately promote his racist Muslim ban. Aslan used his personal Twitter account to call out Trump for being a “piece of shit” and an “embarrassment to humankind,” clearly not holding anything back:

Then it was CNN reporter Chris Cillizza, who used the cnn.com website to post an article titled “The London terror tweets prove Donald Trump is never going to be ‘presidential.'” (link) He cited Trump’s dishonest attack on the Mayor of London this morning, among other embarrassing London-related tweets, as the basis of his conclusion.

Major news outlets often worry more about ‘appearing unbiased’ than they do about accurately stating what’s really going on. So these two CNN reporters deserve praise for taking these stands, even if it really just means they’re doing their jobs properly. Overall, CNN spends far too much time on-air trying to balance a truth-telling commentator with a lying Trump apologist for the sake of perceived balance. But these two CNN reporters, Aslan and Cillizza, deserve credit. Hopefully they still have their jobs by Monday.
