The Donald Trump administration has been so chaotic, scandal-plagued, and unstable, the list of top advisers who’ve exited the building has become too long to recite by memory. Turmoil has been the only constant, as Trump replaces his inept people with new inept people. Now, in a sign of just how bad things are getting, some staffers are circulating their resumes in the expectation that their jobs won’t exist much longer.

Trump’s economic adviser Gary Cohn has spent weeks on the verge of becoming the next to be voted off the island. He publicly condemned Trump’s racist response to Charlottesville, and in return Trump let it leak that Cohn would not be appointed Fed Chair. Since that time, whispers have grown progressively louder that Cohn may be on his way out altogether. Now comes a sign that makes clear just how tenuous things have gotten.

Joy Reid of MSNBC has posted that “Source tells me Gary Cohn staffers are circulating resumes” (link). That means the people on the inside, with the greatest knowledge of what’s really going on behind the scenes, are now betting on Cohn being ousted. This doesn’t come as a surprise, but it does serve to add yet another prominent name to the shockingly long list of key Donald Trump advisers who have exited in controversy during his first nine months.

If and when Gary Cohn leaves the building he’ll join Michael Flynn, Sean Spicer, Reince Priebus, KT McFarland, Anthony Scaramucci, Sebastian Gorka, and Steve Bannon – among countless others – as former Donald Trump White House advisers. Presidential administrations always see turnover, but never anything like this. With an approval rating in the gutter and a Russia scandal that threatens to bring down the entire thing, it’s no wonder Trump’s own advisers see his administration as circling the drain.
